Shop but don’t drop

TOWN centre shoppers can now do their bit to keep Oldham clean and green after a new recycling scheme went on trial.
Special bins have been installed in High Street, Market Place and Albion Street so visitors can get rid of their rubbish safe in the knowledge they are contributing to the borough’s recycling rate.
Councillor Mark Alcock, Cabinet member for the environment and infrastructure, said: “A large amount of litter we dispose of while out and about, such as drink containers, can be recycled.”
The new bins will be monitored over the next six months. If successful, other parts of the borough could follow suit.
