No tip at old pit
Date published: 31 March 2009
RESIDENTS were urged to speak out against plans to use land off Coal Pit Lane as a tip. The former colliery has been deemed a potential site for a waste management facility by the Greater Manchester Joint Waste Development Plan.
The committee recommended that Oldham Council should object as it is on greenbelt land, it could adversely affect two local schools, the amount of traffic it would generate and its location near Daisy Nook Country Park.
Residents were urged to find out more by visiting www.gmwastedpd.co.uk or view plans at Oldham Civic Centre before May 1.
