Local food on the map
Date published: 31 March 2009
BUYING local produce can save on food costs, boost the local economy and cut down on carbon emissions.
And to help Oldhamers support the town’s businesses the council is producing a food directory.
The council has some ideas for a directory but would also like your views. To help gather this information a short questionnaire has been produced for local community organisations and interested members of the public to fill in.
Cabinet member for regeneration Councillor Mohib Uddin said: “A local food guide will give people and businesses the opportunity to get the information that they need to purchase high quality, locally grown produce that cuts down on travelling costs, is fresher and supports local traders, which is good news for everyone.”
