Superstars lose 211lbs!
Date published: 02 April 2009
THERE has been sweat, blood and tears along the way but our recruits wouldn’t have had it any other way.
After 10 tortuous weeks of slogging it out in the gym and forgoing their favourite treats the teams faced their final weigh in.
They walked up to the scales with utter fear in their slimmed down faces but they needn’t have worried because they’ve all achieved amazing results.
With a total weight loss of 15st - or John Carhart when Get Moving To Health started - the members of Wide Load and Heavy Mob (now Lite Crew) have taken huge strides towards healthier futures.
They’ve all lost inches from their waistlines - 42 in total - and the differences are clear to see.
More importantly, every single member of the GMTH programme has lowered their Body Mass Index meaning the risk of weight related illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes is greatly reduced.
Malana Bridge, Bernard Stone and Stephen Roberts are now only a few pounds away from hitting the normal BMI range of 20-25.
I have been with the gang from start to finish and seen how much time, commitment and effort every single one of them has put in to making sure they achieve the right results every week.
Team leaders Maggie Hurley and Nicola Melvin have motivated their teams to push that little bit harder and really feel the burn.
The Heavy Mob (now Lite Crew after Maggie and friend Joan Hague spent a few hours changing the names on their T-shirts with sticky tape!) may have won the competition where points are concerned but in reality they’re all winners and should feel very proud of themselves.
I would like to congratulate all 12 recruits and thank them for making the third GMTH programme a huge success.
