PUPILS from St Hilda’s Primary School spent a day in the dock to learn about the consequences of crime.
Children wrote and acted out their very own mock trial at Oldham Magistrates’ Court which involved a driver jailed for crashing a speeding stolen car on Oldham Way.
It was the culmination of a project to find out more about the criminal justice process — from the Crown Prosecution Service to the youth offending team.
Marlene Armitage, Oldham’s magistrates in the community co-ordinator, said: “It is a good way to get children to understand what it is all about.
“They absolutely soak it up and it does them the power of good.”
