Plea for BMW man to call police
Date published: 02 April 2009
A MAN who helped a teenager as he was being viciously attacked in the street could hold vital information, detectives believe.
A 16-year-old boy was assaulted with a brick in the street at Greenside Way, Chadderton at 8.20pm on Monday.
During the attack, a man driving a silver BMW stopped and helped the injured boy, but drove away before police arrived.
The victim was taken to hospital suffering from head injuries. He has subsequently been discharged.
Detective Constable Simon Halliwell, of Oldham CID, said: “The man who helped the victim has not been in touch with us, and I believe he may have crucial information about this assault, so I’m appealing for him to make contact with us.
Important
“I also think another man, who was wearing a fluorescent jacket, walked past the scene while the attack was taking place, and I’d also like him to call us because he may be able to tell us something which is important for our investigation into this nasty assault.”
Two teenagers have been charged with causing grievous bodily harm.
The 17-year-old boy and 16-year-old boy are due to appear before Oldham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 16.
Anyone with information should call Oldham CID on 0161 856 8955 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
