Three selected for national band

THREE talented young musicians will raise the roof when they perform with the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.
Sixteen year-old baritone player Rebecca Childs (left), percussionist Holly Raynor (16), and bass player Joshua Flynn (15) all play in the Oldham Band (Lees).
The band, led by musical director John Collins, recently completed five annual consecutive wins at the North-West regional finals in Blackpool, breaking a record held for 40 years. The trio will attend an Easter course next week with the national youth band, which gives exceptionally gifted young brass instrumentalists the opportunity to perform advanced music and receive the highest quality teaching.
This will conclude with two concerts — at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, on Saturday, April 11 and The Royal Hall, Harrogate, the following day.
