Killer gets pregnant on day out

A woman jailed for killing a frail Failsworth pensioner has become pregnant while serving her sentence.
Lisa Healey, now 26, was convicted in 1999, when she was 15, of beating and gagging Lily Lilley, before bundling her body into a wheelie bin and dumping it in the Rochdale Canal.
The Sun reports today that Healey had sex romps with her boyfriend while on day release.
She is due to give birth shortly and is then expected to go to the mother and baby unit at Askham Grange prison near York.
She is due to be released next year.
Healey was convicted with fellow schoolgirl Sarah Davey, then 14, after 71-year-old Mrs Lilley’s body was found in September 1998.
They had gagged her so hard she swallowed her false teeth. The judge, Mr Justice Sachs, described it as ‘unspeakable cruelty.’
They appealed against their conviction in 2001, claiming the killing was an accident, but failed to convince the court.
Both girls were named in 2002 and their pictures were released after a High Court hearing, which was told that Healey failed a drug test while in custody, but was viewed by prison staff as quiet and polite, and had apologised for what she did.
Tory MP David Davis has called the pregnancy outrageous and added: “She should not have been allowed out on jaunts. Jails are turning into holiday camps.”
The Prison Service declined to comment on the case.
