YELLOW LINES ARE GOING DOWN
Work has begun on new yellow lines and waiting restrictions on a popular unofficial town centre car park.
The open land at St Mary’s, site of the demolished Jespersen Street flats, has been earmarked for new housing, but developers Gleeson pulled out last year.
Now Oldham Council is tidying up the site, cutting back shrubs and trees, and installing barriers to prevent cars driving on to grassed areas.
The £2,000 scheme is also aimed at preventing vandalism and health and safety threats to local residents.
