NEWSHOUNDS from a Shaw school took a proud look at the first edition of the Rushcroft Reporter.
Year five and six pupils worked hard collecting news and views to produce Rushcroft Primary School’s first newspaper. They did a roaring trade, selling copies to more than half of the school’s 200 pupils, and at £1 a copy, they netted enough to cover the costs and start a fund to buy a digital camera. Teaching assistants Joanne Jennings and Rebekhae Lindsay worked with the youngsters on the project, and Joanne said the plan was to produce an edition once a term.
The Rushcroft Reporter was created by the school’s media club, which is also working on a radio broadcast through the school’s website, and making a news broadcast on film at the City Learning Centre.
Joanne said: “The children worked really hard and learned some new IT and interviewing skills. The newspaper looks fantastic.”
