This Morning with Phil and Mel?

MOSSLEY-raised TV presenter Melanie Sykes is set to replace Fern Britton on ITV1’s “This Morning“ programme.
According to reports, Melanie (38), whose parents live in Diggle, has landed a £500,000 a year deal to host the show with Oldham-born presenter Phillip Schofield.
It is said the dark-haired beauty, who shot to fame in the 1997 Boddingtons bitter ad, will make her debut in September following the show’s summer break.
However, Sykes remained tight-lipped about the vacancy on “This Morning” when she appeared at a Campaign for Real Ale event yesterday calling for a National Beer Day. The 38-year-old famously starred in a series of TV adverts for Boddingtons in the mid-1990s.
The mother-of-two’s most recent presenting stint was with singer Des O’Connor during the lunchtime show “Today with Des and Mel”. It ran for four years before being axed in May, 2006.
Richard Madeley, who used to present “This Morning” with his wife Judy Finnigan, said he would most like to see Myleene Klass (pictured centre) land the role but added that he thought Melanie Sykes was experienced and professional.
Current “This Morning” co-presenter Fern Britton (51) will quit the show and her £750,000 salary in July.
