TOM Aspin is the new chairman of Saddleworth Round Table.
Tom, married to Adele, has been a resident of Uppermill for eight years and a member of the round table for five years.
He works in television and theatre and has just finished working on location for the BBC drama, “The Street”, and a new BBC 3 comedy, “We Are Klang”, due to air later this year.
He said: “I believe this year’s Saddleworth Beer Walk will be the most successful yet.
“And I’m also looking forward to our winter wonderland — the Christmas light switch on in Uppermill — another great community event organised by the round table.”
Tom (44) is hoping to use the money raised to support Saddleworth charities as most of funds from the beer walk come from local people and businesses.
Phil Wiggett, of Wiggett Construction, will be Mr Aspin’s honorary president.
Tom took over as chairman from Nigel Hill at a ceremony at The White Hart, Lydgate, where the group meets.
