Club nights have just got hotter

A TOP Oldham night club is taking on an extra 30 staff following a £100,000 makeover.

The upstairs of Tokyo Oldham has been refurbished to create an extra room and the outdoor terrace has been revamped to form a permanent marquee to host dance events.

And an action-packed weekend for clubbers starts tomorrow with a Playboy Bunny Mansion party complete with champagne reception, bunny ears on arrival and scantily-dressed hosts.

On Good Friday, tribute band Oasist will take over the downstairs room while Milk n Honey — a new RnB night — will be launched in the new third room.

Saturday will see regular RnB night LoveDough launched in Room Three with stints from Faith SFX, Troopa and Oke.

And former chart toppers D:Ream will complete the re-launch weekend on Sunday when they perform hits “Things Can Only Get Better” and “UR The Best Thing”.

In the coming weeks clubbers can look forward to appearances from the Vengaboys, film star Danny Dyer, Hollyoaks hunk Jamie Lomas — who plays Warren Fox — and the cast of Channel Four show “Shameless”.

The downstairs indie room will remain unchanged with former Inspiral Carpet DJ Gilly turning the tables most nights.

The club came under fire earlier this year following a £5.99 all you can drink promotion which critics claimed was helping to transform Oldham into the Wild West.

When the club re-opens tomorrow there will be several drinks promotions in place.

A club spokesman said: “Every club has drinks promotions and the £5.99 all you can drink offer was not a new idea. We worked closely with the police and the council and there were no recorded incidents during the promotion.

“We want to put all that behind us now and look to the future. We know the people of Oldham love Tokyos so we want to give them the best value night out possible.”
