PUPILS at a Shaw school showed their passion for a local park in a poster competition.
Rushcroft Primary School supported Dunwood Park’s bid for £1 million lottery cash by holding a writing project involving children creating a poster to encourage residents to back the bid.
Friends of Dunwood Park have to show evidence to the Lottery Heritage Fund and Big Lottery Fund that locals have given their support to secure the money for a huge redevelopment programme.
Chairman Michael McGrother was invited to judge the children’s efforts and was delighted with their enthusiasm.
He was particularly impressed with the creative and persuasive efforts of the winners, one employing humour to show someone enjoying new tennis courts, another asking the question of how could you not support the bid and the third headlined “Dunwood — fit for a tree.”
Mr McGrother said: “They were all good. The point was to get people interested and fired up to support the bid.”
The three winners each got an Easter egg, while everyone taking part got a smaller egg The posters will now go on display at Crompton Library.
