Students’ exam success rewarded

OLDHAM Education Trust awards were presented to young people at University Campus Oldham in recognition of their GCSE achievements.
Members of the Oldham Education Trust joined Councillor Abdul Jabbar, chairman of the trust, in congratulating the pupils from local schools who had succeeded in their GCSEs having faced challenges along the way.
The trust was established by Councillor Jabbar and makes awards to students from local secondary schools, The Oldham College and University Campus Oldham to support the students to continue their studies.
Debbie Bridge, head of centre at University Campus Oldham, was delighted, along with trust members Jim Williams, Kath Thomas and Mick Walsh, to welcome the students and their families and friends to the University Campus to receive their awards.
The award winners are an inspiration to other young people, and they are now on their way to the next stage of their education in Oldham.
The prizewinners were: Dean Whitty (Kaskenmoor School); Luke Kennealey and Sarah Roberts (Failsworth School); Terence Ross (Radclyffe School);
Atrish Sheikh (St Augustine’s); Sidra Mahmood (Breeze Hill); Mohammed Omaar (Breeze Hill); Mohammed Mahmudul Ahsan (Grange School);
Unable to attend were: Rebecca Fairley (Kaskenmoor); Amy Collins (Radclyffe School); Sara Rashid (St Augustine’s); Tasnim Masuma ( Grange) .
The prize awarded was a cheque in the sum of £100.
