FITNESS fanatics were among the first to try out equipment at Saddleworth Pool and Leisure Centre following a £1.5 million makeover.
The centre now boasts a new fitness gym and dance studio, plus revamped pool, changing rooms and car park.
The pool has stayed open during the work, which began last summer, with customers using temporary changing rooms.
Most of the new-look centre, off Station Road, Uppermill, opened on Monday, while the gym’s refurbished pool area opens tomorrow.
Among the new activities on offer are a full programme of group exercise classes in the brand new dance studio.
Darren Burley, of Oldham Community Leisure, said: “It is exciting to finally open the centre and see so many people enjoying themselves and making a positive start towards becoming more active.
“This is why we expanded it and I am sure that this will now be an important part of the communities healthier lifestyle.”
During April, people can try out the gym for free. Anyone interested should call Saddleworth Pool and Leisure Centre on 0161 621 3270.
