DETERMINED . . . Sam Miah won’t let the break-in put him off
A DEFIANT restaurant owner is counting the cost of a break-in only two weeks after opening for the first time — but says he’s determined to make a go of things and won’t be put off.
Burglars caused £7,500 worth of damage at the Ruchi restaurant on Ripponden Road, Sholver.
Owner Sam Miah (32) said: “They first cut my telephone line outside before breaking in through the front doors.
“I went in the next day and was shocked to see that the whole place had been ransacked.
“They fled with two big plasma televisions and a range of wines and spirits costing over £1,500. The tables and chairs were upside down and many were left broken.”
Raiders broke into the Indian restaurant in the early hours of Thursday, April 2. And all that after the father-of-one splashed out £120,000 on renovating the place.
He added: “I can’t believe anyone would do this. I have spent so much money to get it the way I wanted and now I’m left with yet another huge bill.”
Despite his setback, Mr Miah’s restaurant was open for business the next day.
“It’s business as usual,” he said.
Police are investigating.
