YOUNG cyclists are invited to saddle up for a safety day in Shaw tomorrow.
Children up to 16 can get their bikes security marked as well as pick up tips on how to stay safe.
Officers from Royton and Shaw Neighbourhood Policing Team will be at St George’s Playing Fields between 10am and 4pm.
Representatives from Unity Partnership, Groundwork Trust Oldham, youth services, sport workers, Bike Right and Youth Works will also be on hand offering road safety advice, tips on bike maintenance and telling young people about activities going on in their area.
PC Adam Murphy, Shaw community beat manager, said: “Now the weather is warming up and the evenings are getting lighter, more young people will be getting on their bikes.
“As well as getting safety advice, anyone who comes along to the mobile police station can get their bikes security marked so they can be returned to them should they go missing.
“Parents are also invited along to the mobile police station as this event is a good opportunity for the public to get to know their local officers and raise any concerns they have about crime and anti-social behaviour in their area.”
This event is part of the ongoing work across Royton and Shaw to deliver the Policing Pledge, giving people a clear minimum standard of service they can expect from their local police.
