Musical gift for school

CHOIR members at a Moorside school can now sing loud and proud thanks to a generous donation.
John O’Grady, whose grand-daughter Lucy Smith is a pupil at Our Lady’s RC Primary School, and his army pal Brian Bath donated musical equipment worth £450 to the school.
The pair visited Keys, in Horsedge Street, and bought a mixer, speakers and microphones to make choir performances even more memorable.
John, who donated a kidney to Lucy’s father, Martin, in 2007, said: “I’ve always loved listening to the choir at Our Lady’s and there is always such a great atmosphere at the school.
“I just wanted to give them a helping hand and help them sound as professional as possible.
“I told my friend Brian, who lives in Sutton Coldfield, what I was planning to do and he wanted to help as well.”
As a thank-you to John and Brian, the school invited the pair to a special concert where they performed traditional tunes and songs from musicals using their new equipment.
