TWO new agreements will help Fitton Hill and Hathershaw people get involved with healthy living.
The Neighbourhood Agreements on health and community will be launched in the New Deal for Communities area tomorrow.
The agreements aims to let residents know what services there are to help them stay fit and healthy and also how they can take an active role in their own health through physical exercise, stopping smoking and making healthy food choices. The agreements provide residents with information on how they can take an active role and how they can get involved in local decision-making.
They also give people information on which politicians or councillors to contact if they have a problem.
Key speakers at the launch include local MPs Michael Meacher and Phil Woolas, Councillor Jackie Stanton, deputy leader of Oldham Council, and Riaz Ahmed chairman of NHS Oldham.
There will also be a series of fun sports and health activities and a mock Parliament headed by Phil Woolas MP.
Medlock Vale Councillor Jean Jones said: “It is a chance for individuals and groups to find out how to take a full part in activities that are happening all over the area and therefore to rebuild a community spirit.
“No one person or no one organisation can make a thriving community — it needs us all to work together.”
