YOUNG musicians have scooped a £5,000 grant to help them scale the heights of success.
Dobcross Youth Band received the money from the Community Foundation which helps people and businesses support their local charities.
It will buy instruments for its training section which has a strong emphasis on teaching young beginners.
Dobcross Youth Band currently has 12 children in its beginners’ groups, recruited from an open evening in October, and 16 in its training section, which received a certificate of merit at the National Youth Championships on April 4.
The band is holding another open evening on June 11 and people with children interested in learning a brass instrument should call secretary Jenny Wood on 07828 099296.
