YOUNG riders took part in a cycle safety day in Shaw.
Officers from the Royton and Shaw Neighbourhood Policing Team gave handy hints and tips at St George’s playing fields.
About 60 young people, aged up to 16, took their bikes to be security marked and learned how to stay safe while cycling.
Road-safety advice was also given by representatives from Unity Partnership, Groundwork Trust Oldham, Youth Services, Sport Workers, Bike Right and Youth Works. Bike Right also carried out free repairs to some of the bikes.
Special thanks was given to Shaw residents Dave and Anne Barlow who donated 16 cycle helmets to the event.
