LIGHTS, camera, action. Cast and crew got stuck into filming a new movie at the weekend that could put Oldham on the cinematic map.
“The Cheeseboard” is financed, written and stars Rochdale singer Brendan Decko and has Oldham Coliseum favourite Sue Devaney among the actors involved.
Everyone taking part is local and scenes are being shot in Oldham and Rochdale.
Once complete, the low-budget black comedy will be shown at film festivals and its creators hope it will be picked up by an independent film company before hitting the big time.
Sue, a former Oldham Theatre Workshop student, is best known for her roles as Debbie Webster in “Coronation Street” and Jane in “Dinnerladies”.
It also features Andy Lee, Darren Harper, Martin Ashworth and Colin Meredith — as well as cameos from comedians Bobby Ball and Jimmy Cricket.
The film is about a trio of friends and captures northern humour as it details the trials and tribulations in their lives.
Our exclusive picture shows filming taking place at The Oxford pub, Whitworth Road, Rochdale on Saturday.
