FAMILY flowers at the scene of the crash
A 41-YEAR-OLD Shaw motorcyclist was killed in a crash at Scammonden, Huddersfield.
Leon Shirreff died after his Honda machine hit a lamp post at 4pm on Friday.
Police said he was riding in tandem with another motorcyclist heading back towards Oldham.
He was airlifted to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary by Yorkshire Air Ambulance but was declared dead shortly after arriving.
The accident happened on New Hey Road, near the Jack O’Mitre pub.
Police set up a road block close to the junction of Hey Lane, which remained in place well into the evening. They carried out investigations at the scene, though no-one else was believed to have been involved in the accident. Relatives were called to the hospital to be told the news.
Over the weekend they left floral tributes at the scene.
One said: “For my brother. God Bless. A kinder man you could not meet. Love always Karen and Craig”.
