CAN you tell what it is yet? Gallery staff take in Paul Aston’s sculpture ahead of Saturday’s event
GALLERY Oldham throws open its doors to celebrate the launch of its summer exhibition programme this weekend.
The fun begins on Saturday at 1pm when curator Stephen Whittle officially opens “A Lost Landscape”, an exhibition of works by Roger Hampson — one of the North-West’s most important artists of the post-war period.
Artist Kevin Laycock will talk about his current show, “Collision”, which features a projection piece accompanied by a musical score by Michael Berkeley as well as a broad selection of colourful abstract paintings.
There will also be a chance to talk to artists James Castle and Paul Aston about their work in the current sculpture exhibition “An Englishman, a Scotsman and a Tree”.
Mr Whittle said: “It’s an opportunity to hear some of the featured artists talk about their work and a chance to find out more about the exhibitions on show.”
Family activities take place throughout the afternoon and refreshments will be served. The event is free and there is no need to book.
