SADDLEWORTH Amateur Swimming Club has made a real splash by scooping a top accolade.
It has achieved Swim 21, the Amateur Swimming Association’s national quality mark.
The news comes as the club moves back into Saddleworth Leisure Centre following its £1.5million makeover.
The club has around 130 members aged between six and 17, and is the smallest in Oldham to receive the accreditation.
Its members have represented Great Britain in major competitions, including the Commonwealth Games, and it currently has two 2012 Olympic hopefuls.
Beth Schofield, Saddleworth’s Swim 21 co-ordinator, said: “In the year or so that it has taken for us to reach this point we’ve learned a lot about how to run a club successfully and to a high standard.
“A good club depends on more people than just its swimmers and coaches and we’ve come to appreciate the value of working as a team and making good use of the skills and experience of many of our members.”
Saddleworth Amateur Swimming Club trains two nights a week at Saddleworth Leisure Centre.
