Oldham & District Scout parade through Uppermill
AROUND 300 people turned out for a St George’s Day parade through Uppermill on Sunday.
Organised by Oldham District Scout Association, the walkers enjoyed sunshine as they trekked from their meeting place in Chapel Road to Uppermill Methodist Church in High Street.
Anne Collier, assistant district commissioner for beaver scouts in Oldham, said: “It was a fantastic day, absolutely brilliant.”
The scouts were joined by four guide commissioners, John Woolley, county commissioner for scouts, and Councillor Pat Lord, chairman of Saddleworth Parish Council.
The parade ended at the church where the Rev Paul Stringer led a St George’s Day service.
