Eighty-year-old man terrorised in his home

A HOUSEBOUND pensioner was left traumatised after a masked raider threatened him with a knife in his own home.
The 80-year-old man was in his front room in Brewerton Road, Clarksfield, just before 11pm on Friday when the incident occurred.
The offender, wearing a balaclava and brandishing a kitchen knife, burst into the property and confronted the victim.
He threatened the pensioner and demanded money before stealing the victim’s wallet, which contained a small amount of cash, and his telephone.
The victim was left traumatised but unharmed.
The robber is described as white, 5ft 7ins tall, and dressed in black.
PC Stewart Lindsay, based at Oldham police station said: “This was a cowardly attack on an elderly man in the very place he is entitled to feel safe — his own home.
“Fortunately he has not been injured, but he’s certainly been left feeling shaken and upset.
“I’m appealing to anybody who may have been in the area at the time and who saw anyone acting suspiciously or who knows who is responsible to call us.”
Anyone with information should call police on 0161-872 5050 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
