Underage sex accused have bail extended
Date published: 06 May 2009
TWO OLDHAM men, aged 22 and 21, arrested on suspicion of sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl, have had their bail extended.
They were arrested in February after police found a missing 14-year-old girl at an address in Roundthorn Road, Oldham.
They were also suspected of possession of a class B drug, but have both been rebailed until May 21 after answering bail at Oldham Police Station on Sunday.
Investigations are continuing into the case, part of Operation Messenger, a partnership between Greater Manchester Police, Oldham Council and NHS Oldham, to combat child exploitation.
Messenger works with children’s charity Barnardo’s to identify children who are potentially at risk from abuse and formulate a strategy aimed at helping them.
