Bowlers’ debut victory
Date published: 07 May 2009
HISTORY was made when Shaw Royal British Legion welcomed the first competitive bowling team to Farrow Street.
Previously, only members were allowed on to the green, which had been preserved for them to enjoy daily games with one another.
The men at Farrow Street have so far not shown any interest in starting a team of their own, but they all turned out to support the ladies team in its first home game.
They played against Moorside B in the Oldham and District Ladies Bowling League — and won.
Captain Irene Muschamp and secretary Kathryn Jackson were also presented with certificates for passing the first exams towards becoming bowls referees.
