Hospice to open charity shop
Date published: 07 May 2009
DR KERSHAW’S Hospice is opening a new charity shop in Royton, and is desperately short of volunteers to run it.
The shop will open at the end of May in a bid to boost vital funds needed to keep the hospice running.
Urging people to come forward to help out, appeals manager Brian Hurst said: “We are desperate for volunteers. We are at least 12 volunteers short for all our shops, and we are also always in need of good quality items to sell.
“They can either be dropped off at any of the shops, or we can arrange for them to be picked up.”
The new Royton shop, in the precinct, will bring the number of fund-raising hospice shops to four. There are two in Shaw and one in Lees.
Anyone who has a few hours to spare on a regular basis and who can offer help, should contact shops manager Alison Brown on 01706-290973.
The shop will open from 9.30am to 4pm, and volunteers are asked to do three-hour shifts.
