Have your say on green space

Date published: 08 May 2009

THE Forestry Commission is urging Failsworth and Moston residents to share their views on Moston Brook as plans to improve the area are considered.

The commission wants to know what locals think about the green spaces around the area as it explores improvements as part of the North-West Regional Development Agency’s (NWDA) Newlands programme. The programme seeks to revitalise former landfill sites. The near-by Moston Vale area has already been given a £1.7 million makeover as part of the scheme.

It is hoped that Moston Brook could be given similar treatment, with potential investment for surrounding areas including Hardman Fold, Wrigley head and the Moston Fairway also being considered.

A feasibility study has already taken place and consultancy firm Pathways is to hold two consultation events this weekend.

The events, which take place this Saturday and Sunday, will involve a short visit to the sites.

The event on Saturday will take place from 10.30am to 2.30pm at the Mission Hall, St John’s Church, on the corner of

Oldham Road and Church Street, Failsworth, and the Sunday event will take place at Broadhurst Primary School, Williams Road, Moston, from 1 to 5pm.

Anyone who would like more information or to participate in the event is asked to call Pathways on 0161-273 8235 or e-mail paulcrossley@pathwaysconsultancy.co.uk
