NOCTURNAL walkers are being sought to clock up a half marathon in aid of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
The sponsored walk is open to women only, but husbands, sons, brothers, boy friends and fathers can get involved as helpers or stewards on the night.
The 13.1 mile Midnight March will take place on Saturday, June 20, and walkers will gather for the start at Oldham Athletic’s training ground.
They will set off at the stroke of midnight, and organisers want to see last year’s entry of 190 women treble to more than 500 walkers. The event is now in its second year, and aims to unite women in support of the Royton hospice.
Entry costs £15, which includes a commemorative t-shirt, a glow stick necklace to help light the way, and a medal and refreshments for everyone who crosses the finishing line.
Dr Kershaw’s Hospice has teamed up with justgiving.com to help walkers raise money quickly and easily online with their own personalised web pages. To set up a page, visit: http://www.justgiving.com/dkh/raisemoney or call 0800 028 6183 for more details.
Men who want to volunteer as helpers should contact Brian, Viv or Cheryl at the appeals office on 0161-624 9984 or email appeals@drkershawshospice.org.uk
