Cash raid witness appeal
Date published: 11 May 2009
POLICE are appealing for a key witness to come forward following a raid at an Oldham building society.
The robbers struck as guards were filling cash machines at the Halifax in Curzon Street, smashing their way through the glass doors with a sledgehammer.
Police believe a man seen on CCTV walking down Lord Street following the incident at 11.45pm on May 1 could hold vital information.
This man is described as dark skinned and wearing a hooded top with light and dark hoops and dark trousers.
Detective Constable Simon Halliwell, of Oldham CID, said: “This man is not in any trouble we simply believe he could have seen the offenders leaving the scene.”
Anyone with information should call Oldham CID on 0161-856 8955 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
