Time to step off the Euro gravy train

OLDHAM Euro MP Chris Davies kicked off his North-West tour in Greenfield yesterday by renewing his drive to clean-up expenses in the European Parliament.
Mr Davies, a Liberal Democrat, is touring the region ahead of the European elections on June 4 and a key plank of his campaign is making the generous expenses claimed by Euro-MPs more open to public scrutiny.
Mr Davies will be touring with a petition to demand that Euro-MPs reform the system for payment of expenses and allowances, demand repayment of money paid to Euro-MPs who break the rules and publish annually the amounts received from all public sources.
He said: “I am proud of the work I do in the European Parliament and that is why I get so angry at those who drag the reputation of the EU down by milking the system.”
Mr Davies is pictured at Greenfield railway station yesterday having collecting the first signatures for his petition to change the European Parliament expenses system.
