A TEACHER was kicked in the head when he tackled an intruder who walked into Clarksfield Primary School and stole a laptop.
The have-a-go-hero was uninjured in the assault which happened at around 1.40pm yesterday.
Police confirmed that a man entered the Grasmere Road School through the main entrance and told staff who challenged him that he was looking for the reception.
He then walked in the wrong direction and took a laptop from an office. On his way out he was challenged by the 38-year-old teacher and a scuffle broke out before he escaped.
The school has a security buzzer on the entrance and it has not been confirmed if he was let in or the door was open.
Head teacher Trish O’Donnell said: “At no time were any pupils in any harm, the police were contacted straight away and responded immediately.
“All parents have been informed by letter of what took place.”
The intruder was white, about 6ft 1in tall with a thick build, a shaven head and a small blue tattoo on his neck. He had a local accent and was wearing a navy shellsuit top with white flashes, blue jeans and white trainers.
