Firemen stoned by yobs

FIREfighters were pelted by bricks and stones when they tackled a blaze on Limeside.
The crew from Hollins Station escaped uninjured when they were called out to a rubbish fire off Lime Green Road.
It is believed to have been started by the thugs who then hid in bushes and attacked them.
Just an hour later, at 8pm on Saturday, they were called out to a second rubbish fire at the same spot. This time the eight-strong gang watched but did not attack.
The police have been informed and Watch Commander Val Hussain said: “It’s a scandal. Mainly it was stones but they also threw a few half bricks.”
