Kingfisher School head teacher Anne Redmond
The head teacher of an outstanding Chadderton school has been selected for a key support role.
Anne Redmond, from Kingfisher School, has been named as a National Leader of Education (NLE), head teachers who, along with their staff, use their experience to help struggling schools.
This can range from coaching or consultancy and interim leadership roles to heading more than one school. The are also responsible for helping to develop the next generation of top heads.
Kingfisher swept the board with outstanding grades in its most recent Ofsted inspection in 2007. The special school was also nominated for a Pride in Oldham Award.
Mrs Redmond is one of around only 100 heads chosen for the honour in the latest round of recruitment by the National College for School Leadership.
Mrs Redmond said: “I am delighted that the work of Kingfisher has been recognised in this way. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to share some of our outstanding practice with others, both locally and nationally, and help us further enhance the opportunities for the learners at Kingfisher.”
