Gallery seeks art fans
Date published: 20 May 2009
OLDHAM’S art gallery is 125 years old next year, and local people are being invited to spread the word about the variety of things it can offer.
Oldham’s original art gallery opened above the old library in Union Street in 1885, and moved to Gallery Oldham’s striking new building in 2002.
Now the gallery is looking for people who are passionate about art and local history to join a new Community Ambassador Panel.
The panel will help shape the future programme of exhibitions and play an active part in the gallery’s future.
There will be a few meetings a year and ambassadors will be asked to give time for additional help on specific projects.
Anyone interested can go to the first meeting on Friday at 3.30pm. Contact Joy Thorpe on 0161-770 4653, or e-mail joy.thorpe@oldham.gov.uk.
