A MAJOR Oldham homecare provider which helps hundreds of local people has been bought by a Leeds-based company.
Helpful Hands was established in 1986 by Susan Turner, a former district nurse, and provides services for Oldham Council, the NHS and private clients in the Oldham, Shaw and Saddleworth areas.
It is the second largest provider of homecare in Oldham and employs over 70 people to help with washing, eating, dressing, meal preparation and household chores.
Helpful Hands has been bought by Domus Healthcare Group for an undisclosed sum. It is the second purchase in less than 12 months for the Yorkshire company and will double its size.
All staff will be retained and the current owners kept on as consultants, although the company will be rebranded as Domus Healthcare Oldham.
Domus chief executive, Noel Baden-Thomas, said: “Helpful Hands has got a great reputation for delivering good quality care in the Oldham area and employs some fantastic people.
“We will be retaining all of the existing staff and want to continue to improve upon the company’s already high standards.”
