CHESS champs from Greenfield Primary School proved worthy opponents after scooping top spots in the chess Megafinal competition.

Megan Brierley was named the girls under-eight champion after winning four out of six games.

Her brother, Jack, came top of the under 10s with the same score.

Jay Taylor won five out of six games in the under nines section, and came second.

All three children, who play for Oldham Town team, have now qualified for the next round of the competition, the Gigafinal, which will be held in July.
