RUGBY legend Barrie McDermott braved the rain to present certificates to a blooming brilliant bunch of people.
Residents at Threshold’s Spring Street Centre, in Greenacres, gave their garden a stunning make-over as part of Adult Learners’ Week.
Threshold provides support for adults aged 16 to 60 in order to help them live independently.
Housing and regeneration group Regenda and Oldham East area committee offered their support to the project which saw vegetable plots, shrubs and a barbecue area created.
Dozens of people turned up to see the residents receive their certificates and stayed to sample home-cooked soups using herbs from the new garden as well as taking part in a planting masterclass.
Councillor John McCann said: “The positive atmosphere was obvious, it has been rewarding for everyone involved and has produced a lovely area. It has also given the residents valuable new skills.”
