STAFF and residents at a brand new Oldham housing scheme played host to MP Michael Meacher who dropped in for a quick tour.
Trinity House in Godson Street provides 53 extra care apartments for older people as part of a partnership between Oldham Council, leading older people’s housing provider, Housing 21 and Bullock Construction.
Mr Meacher, MP for Oldham West and Royton, had the opportunity to meet with some of the staff and tenants.
He said: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to visit Trinity House and meet with staff and tenants.
“The extra care housing model is a valuable concept for older people and I have been impressed by what I have seen.”
Trinity House is one of eight extra care projects being provided in Oldham through the partnership.
The PFI has already been responsible for a new sheltered housing complex at Lees House and extensive refurbishment at Holland Close in Delph, as well as the construction of Tandle View Court in the heart of Royton.
Extra care housing provides tenants with their own home in a communal scheme along with 24-hour care and support services, so that they can maintain their independence while having help on hand should they need it.
