Service award for fireman Mark

AN Oldham fireman has been honoured with a long service and good conduct medal.
Mark Outhwaite (42) joined Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service in 1993 having served for four years with Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. After completing his training, he was stationed in Farnworth, later transferring to Manchester Central.
Mark, who lives in Oldham, remained at Manchester Central until April, 1999, when he transferred to Stalybridge. In 2004, he moved to Hollins, where he continues to serve.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service honoured 14 of its uniformed officers with the awards.
The Queen awards the medal to those members of the Brigade who have completed 20 years exemplary service.
The medals were presented by Warren Smith JP, the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, and Councillor Paul Shannon, chairman of the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority.
