BUDDING amateur photographers inspired by Oldham wildlife can get creative as part of a Groundwork Oldham and Rochdale photographic competition.

With the help of residents and volunteers, Groundwork maintains and develops a number of nature sites throughout Oldham and Rochdale.

These include the Jubilee site, off Milnrow Road, which combines a peaceful natural environment with the camouflaged remains of its industrial past.

The competition has been created to highlight the natural gems hidden around the local area.

Katy Lloyd, Groundwork education officer, said: “Within the area there’s a number of nature sites that are home to a variety of animals, birds and insects.

“We want people to explore these sites, photographing their beauty and sharing the experience with others.

“The photo competition will enable visitors to look at the sites in a different light and hopefully discover features that we never new existed.”

Entrants are invited to capture the beauty of these sites, from the creatures that live there to the people who enjoy these local assets. The theme is open to individual interpretation but entries must have the nature site at their heart.
