BATH-tub blues — Nick Warburton is covered in beans by Peter Snow
BATHING beauty Nick Warburton was prepared to “goo” the extra mile to make sure that cancer patents don’t have to.
Sprightly pensioners pulled him around Shaw in a bath full of baked beans in aid of the £100,000 Christie at Oldham Campaign.
The appeal is supporting the new £17 million radiotherapy centre at the Royal Oldham Hospital which will allow thousands of patients to be treated closer to home rather than travelling to The Christie in Withington
And the mile-long bath pull was organised by Shaw Comrades Club, with Nick getting comfortable, thanks to 200 tins of beans donated by Asda in Shaw. It was followed by entertainment at the club and the day raised £1,200.
Peter Snow, from Shaw Comrades, is a member of an Oldham, Rochdale and Middleton group which raises money for Christie’s.
He said: “It was an absolutely brilliant day, fantastic. The centre will help a lot of people because they will not have to travel across Manchester. It will make everything a lot easier.
“I want as many Oldham pubs and clubs as possible to raise as much money as possible.”
