Over-55s club thrives on chatting and bingo

IF you are over the age of 55 and like to chat, Hollinwood Friendship Club could be the place for you.
The group was set up in 1991, and has more than 20 members, who meet each Monday from 1.30-3.30pm.
They get to play bingo and are occasionally treated to entertainment from local singers and groups.
They have also had talks from representatives of the police, fire service and health service, and charities including Marie Curie.
Irene Binns said: “The club is for anyone who is retired or over 55. They get to play bingo and past entertainers have included Hindle Wakes. We do dancing as well.
“People can play games but because most of them live on their own, they like to come in for a good chat.
“The best thing about it is meeting new people and playing bingo.”
The group meets at Hollinwood Youth Centre which is attached to Beulah Baptist Church in Withins Road.
