HATS off to construction workers who are building Oldham’s new £17 million radiotherapy centre.
For brickies and joiners have joined forces with architects and surveyors to go the extra mile.
A team of 20 employees of Vinci Construction Ltd (formerly Norwest Holst) and sub-contractors who are working on the Royal Oldham Hospital site, have signed up to the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride.
And they hope to rake in a massive £5,000 for the Christie’s at Oldham Appeal with the 60-mile challenge.
Quantity surveyor and cycling team member Alastair Ruttleis said more than £2,500 had already been pledged.
“Dave Davies, our project manager is a keen cyclist and he had already decided he was going to do the ride for the appeal,” he said.
“He collared the rest of us into joining, and it’s got everyone up off their bottoms and into training mode. Everyone’s up for it.”
The ride is on Sunday, July 12, and anyone who wants to sponsor the cyclists can do so by logging on to www.justgiving.com/vincibunkerbuilders
