Action week on drugs
Date published: 05 June 2009
OLDHAMERS who want to know how drug abuse is being tackled in their area will be given the opportunity to put questions directly to the police and drugs workers all next week.
The moves, which are part of the national Tackling Drugs, Changing Lives week, which begins on Monday, aims to show residents what is being done to drive down drug use in the town.
The questions will be put to Janet Sewart, strategic manager for the Oldham Drug and Alcohol Action Service (DAAT), and Chief Supt of Oldham Police, Caroline Ball.
And all the questions and answers will be published in the Chronicle at the end of the week.
Chief Supt Ball said: “This week of action is a chance for us to show the communities what we are doing to tackle drug-related crime in their area.
Ms Sewart said: “We want to use this week to ask residents what their concerns are, and hopefully we’ll be able to address these.”
Anyone wanting to ask a question can email daatin fo@positivestepsoldham.org.uk or clairex.smith@gm p.pnn.police.uk call 0161-621 9101.
