Delight at homes fit for the 21st century

A BARDSLEY housing estate has undergone a radical revamp to bring the properties into the 21st century.
The 14 homes on the Bardsley estate were built in the 1960s from concrete panels — a style of construction no longer used.
Regeneration specialist Frank Haslam Milan (FHM) carried out the refurbishment, including new external brick skin, better insulation and double glazing.
Resident William Duckworth said: “We are thrilled with the difference to our homes. The houses used to be cold and damp but all the work done has turned them into warm, quiet, modern homes. They will be much cheaper to heat and they look fantastic.”
The refurbishment was undertaken by FHM as part of a £1 million improvement programme in partnership with First Choice Homes.
Sean Canavan, project supervisor at First Choice Homes Oldham, said: “The refurbishment was excellent and has resulted in our residents being provided with homes fit for the 21st century.”
Ian Allen, contracts manager at FHM, said: “We pride ourselves on delivering high quality regeneration schemes and working closely with local communities.
“We were specifically approached by First Choice Homes Oldham for this project due to our extensive experience on this type of home, particularly due to a highly successful programme completed for Leeds City Council.
“We are delighted residents are feeling the benefits of such a major investment.”
